May 08 2010

Well it's semi-final saturday. No pre-game skate today, the boys got to sleep in till 10 and rest up. The win or go home scenario has the guys really focused. At our pre-game meeting we talked about how Dauphin is overlooking us. They think they have the ticket already booked to the championship game which the boys think plays to our advantage. We know how to beat Dauphin its just going out and executing. To try and calm the nerves Bob took us on a walk downtown Dauphin to go check out the train station however we got lost and never found it, so i guess it was a long stretching of the legs. Hopefully the guys come flying out of the gates in the 1st period and dominate throughout so we can deliver an upset to the town and team of Dauphin.
Until next time.

Gameday. We enjoyed a day off yesterday. The guys practiced in the morning then had some time to rest. After lunch we took an hour drive to Riding Mountain National Park. We had supper at the Elk Horn Lodge which was really good. Afterwards we went towards Clear lake. They had a lodge there which displayed the various animals in the Park. We watched a 15 minute video about the history of the park which the guys seemed to enjoy. On the way home we were told that there was a 2000lb moose that hung out on the side of the road everyday, so a bunch of us kept our eyes peeled for the monster however he never poked his head out of the timber. Today the guys practiced nice and early then had breakfast and are resting up before tonights big game. Win we play Vernon, lose we play Dauphin. No easy task either way but the guys really seem to be seeking revenge against both these teams. Of course our plan is to win, but whatever the outcome the guys seem confident against any team.
Until next time.

Well some good news and bad news from yesterday. With Oakville's loss earlier in the day we knew we were automatically advancing to the semi-finals. The guys were excited but still wanted to improve our record and beat Dauphin. After two tight periods against the Kings, we came out hard and dominated the third period. A costly penalty late in the third period ended up costing us the game. Today we have another day off and are going to a mountain for the day and dinner. Until next time.

A well needed day off today. The guys went for a light skate at 11, but were happy to have the rest of the day off. Most of the guys went for lunch with their parents, or took their parents vehicles to tour around the town a bit. Its been nice for them to take their minds off hockey for a day after that tough loss last night to Vernon. With a couple calls going our way we could have beat the defending champs, but the hockey gods were not on our side last night, not to mention the referees. Although the Vipers beat us the guys are very confident about a future match-up.
Until next time.

May 02 2010

Hello again. We have just finished our pre-game dinner and meeting. It was a quiet dinner compared to usual. I think the meeting before dinner made the guys focus a lot. The weather is still nasty here, but some of our fans showed up at our meal and wished us luck which is nice to see. Hopefully our cheering section will be rowdy tonight! Brockville has defeated Oakville 7-2 if u haven't heard which is a good thing for us. Bob said that Brockville is a similar styled team to Oakville except smaller which bodes well for us come game 4. Until next time.

The alarms went off at 7:30 this morning. The boys had to be up this early for their pre-game skate only to find that it was snowing outside. I met up with the guys after practice for breakfast. They seemed in good spirits, confident and ready for tonights game. The guys mentioned that getting up early to practice was a struggle however the rest they will get before tonights 7 o'clock game will be beneficial.
